As part of the 2012 selection process the TSC and Tourism Toronto hosted the Sport Alliance of Ontario on July 12th for a site visit. The group toured a number of venues and asked questions about the hosting of the OSG's in Toronto. At lunch, the group was joined by Councillors Adrian Heaps and Janet Davis as well as senior city staff. By all accounts, the site visit went exceptionally well and all key questions were addressed. The Sport Alliance will now complete its’ analysis and provide a recommendation to the Ministry of Health Promotion. The final decision will be announced in Sudbury on August 10th at the 2010 Ontario Summer Games.

2012 Ontario Summer Games - Toronto's Bid

Athletes competing in the Ontario Summer Games range in age from 13 - 22 years. There are approximately 3,500 participants (athletes, coaches, managers and major officials) competing in 27-32 different sports, including up to 100 athletes with a physical disability who may be integrated into the games. The games attract up to 1,000 community volunteers.

For the Toronto community, the 2012 Ontario Summer Games would be a great test event (one of very few multi-sport opportunities available) for enhancing the volunteer and organizing capacity as it relates to the 2015 Pan/ParaPan American Games.
